You Did It Again This Is All About Negative Blood and Nothing About My Ab

dw0162 Newbie (male) Join Date: Oct 2012 Location: Daytona Beach, Florida Posts: 3	Severe Abdominal Pain with every test coming back negative I have been having severe abdominal pain and nausea for 6 months, about a 7 constant and a 8 when pushed. I have had 2 abdominal CT scans, endoscopy, Colonoscopy, 2 hyda scans, and countless bloodwork tests all have come back negative. The first hyda scan showed something wrong with my gallbladder so they took it out. and i had my second hyda scan after my surgery to make sure i wasnt having any leakage. Now i am a month post op and i am still having abdominal pain. Im just to the point where im running out of ideas and apparently so have the drs. If anyone has any idea or has similar symptoms, let me know.

This is so hard when you in pain and nobody knows what is going on. I wonder if you had same tests as my daughter did; she has same problems with her stomach pain, few terrible attacks and days at the Hospital, numerous tests. I taught her not to give up; if you suffer and they don't know what this is, it doesn't mean you have to give up, it only means you must change your Dr and see as many as you need until you get your questions answered. Just yesterday I took her to NYC for second opinion and was really surprised that her new DR suggested she must have a special urine test done which suppose to show how she metabolizes her food. Obviously, if this is not metabolizes properly, may suggest problems which can be corrected, but had to be proofed. Than he took her blood work for plasma to check her pancreas and gall bladder. I thought her previous blood works suppose to show it, but he said NO, regular blood work will not show this specific thing he is looking for. Another thing, he sends her to see MD, Food Allergist DR to check her for preservatives and different foods allergies. He told us that simple allergies to preservatives or certain foods may give a person severe pain and even attacks she gets. Interesting, is in it? Colonoscopy is a MUST Despite her young age. She had CT and special MRI test (not just regular MRI, but the one you drink this drink and they watch how it goes through your stomach and intestinal truck. This test took her 4 hours to finish). Endoscopy she had where her Dr went through stomach to see inside the pancreatic and gall bladder ducts. If her future tests show nothing, she goes for Laparascopy than. I wish she wouldn't get there, but you don't joke when it comes to abdominal pain. It can come from serious reasons, and it must be checked ASAP. My advice to you: do what you have to finally be diagnosed. If you need to change your DR, than do so. Be your own doctor, do your homework. See Drs in different areas where they don't know each other, it very important. You said you went through gall bladder surgery; did they look inside your bowel? Did they check all organs? Did you have colonoscopy done already and if not, this must be your next step. Wishing you the best. Moldova

I have had a endoscopy and a colonoscopy that was one of the first things done because they originally thought it was stomach ulcers. I have see a gastroenterologist and now im seeing my primary and he thinks its my nerves in my back causing pain in my stomach. He basically told me that he has reviewed my records and says there is nothing wrong with my stomach.

Since my last post to you, she saw a new Gastro. We learned that often simple food and air allergy may cause severe pains as well. So this is her next chapter, to see a Dr who will perform allergy tests on her. Did you ever had it done? Than he mentioned if colonoscopy will be negative he may want to do endoscopy again. I told him that no need to go through this again since she had 3 of them by previous DR. He said this is up to us, but unfortunately many patients who come to his office and have it done again, discover that something was missing during previous testings. I heard it before from some people and probably he is right, I learned myself that some Drs more thorough then others and more knowledgeable than others. If tests come back negative, next step - Laparascopy. But he wants to do it all before the last step - surgery. This new DR told us he is happy to hear that we dont give and base our opinion only on previous Dr. reports. He also mentioned that stomach/bowel issues are very complicated, often very hard to diagnose where pain is coming from. When people give up, they may loose their life. It may take a very long time to be diagnosed, but there are hope it will happen and person can get treated on time. Since we talked last, she developed another severe attack and we rushed her to ER in the middle of terrible resent NJ hurricane while Hospital was in a stage of evacuation. Talking about "fun". weelyirked Newbie (male) Join Date: Nov 2012 Location: Redmond Oregon USA Posts: 3	Re: Severe Abdominal Pain with every test coming back negative I'm about to place an intro / query post but ran into your question on my road wanted to provide: MY nightmare started back in 1994 when I begaan having nightmarish abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting with emesis at times, other times so empty all that came up was more pain at 31 years old, BACK THEN IN THE 90'S, the Physicians had no interest in running a pancreas assessment, as I'd no truck with alcohol; I suppose that any conjecture on pancreatic dysfunction was a zebra maybe I'm off base, but, the fact is, up until AFTER my 1st pump placement, noone ever thought to include an amylase/lipase assay (sp) into a workup if this has been your experience as well; please look into idiopathic pancreatitis, during a flareup (if acute) those figures will elevate - I think the lipase is the initial indicator, from -15/+24 hrs, then the amylase climbs - release from the hospital was always following it's gradual decrease. if this is all worthless info, please disregard, i just understand frustration when left with a notion that YOUR VERY REAL DEBILLITATING PAIN could all be born of a somataform paradigme w t hey... it's a 50 dollar blood exam, right? good luck mate gypsy Last edited by Administrator; 05-26-2013 at 08:09 AM.

gmak Senior Veteran (female)	Re: Severe Abdominal Pain with every test coming back negative Hi, I just wanted to add a couple of things, I hope this finds you feeling betterand that you find answers soon l have a long history with gi probs. Not all gastroenterologists are created equal. Mine is top notch,& im in remission from chronic ulcerative colitis. Did i miss it or did you say if the pain is above or below belly button? Moldova is doing the exact right thing with her daughter. Im her greatest fan, ,and she is right to tell you to go new gastro. First, make sure this new dr puts you to sleep to scope & that it is not done in the dr office. When in right facility dr should take " bites" of gi mucosa all along the way to send to pathology. This is how you find most gi diseases. Scopes only find what they see @ that moment, lile a snapshot in time. If it is not doing whatever makes it hurt then its not seen. I.e. antrum spasms of stomach that squeeze like "labor pains" of the stomach. Off, squeeze til you double over, stop& again... Second, after gb removal you can have sphincter of oddi spasms. Pain meds are notorious gor causing this, imho. This sends people to ER, the pain is so severe. & it goes thru to back as well. An"ERCP" scope is done & goes to common bile duct to take pressure readings, dr will clip duct if pressure to high& they check pancreas. Most gastros do ercp, but only highly specialized ones do what i described.NTG sublingual works for esophageal spasms, antrum spasms,sphincter of oddi pain, etc. But, You Do Not take unless the dr prescribes it as it can severely drop blood pressure. Third, below belly button, you need > 100 different bites from scope to get entire colon tested for inflammatory bowel disease. The cramps can be so severe, that my dr said the end of colon is beaten up , like a whip snaps the end. Some people have irritable bowel syndrome so badly the dr gives them suboxone, an incredibly strong narcotic, used for chronic pain when all else fails, sort of like methadone but has another ingredient that helps tolerance( but thats a whole experimental book unto itself). The small intestine cant be scoped, but can be tested with barium swallow with small bowel follow thru, ct of abd,b/c Crohns can cause sections of sm.intestine to die requiring surgery. & ileitis, like colitis with pain, bloody diarrhea etc. So, you see how very complicated this system is & there are only special gastros that can do it right & still they have specialists inside the gi specialty. I intended this to be short, a couple of points but,if you are having pain severe after gb removal & the dr thinks it is nerves without testing you, it is dangerous!Call dr you trust the most in the world, tell him/ her the story & ask who you should see. Then research. If you ever feel put off again, find new dr immediately or go to the biggest university, research, teaching hospital ER you can get to. Of course, it is up to dr to order tests & prescribe medicine. This is just my opinion after having the best gi dr. I wish i could help you right now. Find one that calls you back in 1 minute when you need him. I hope this helps you in comprising your list of questions for your new dr and for yourself to know help is out there if you have information. I discussed it with my Dr and he said that some people after having their gallbladder out may have pain for several months after. So besides the occasional ache I lived pain free for about a 2 weeks. Then I went to put my 7 month son in his toy I felt a pop in my back and its hard to even get up. Now I think I herniated a disc in my back, ugh it seems like I cant win. But hopefully like my abdominal pain this will get better too, now I just gotta see my Dr on the 26th. But the back pain is for a different thread.
